CAF to probe Ghanaian artistes snub
Africa’s football governing body, CAF, say they will addresses concerns with regards to the snub of Ghanaian acts for last Thursday’s CAF AITEO Awards.
The aftermath of the very colorful programme has been met with a social media backlash after no Ghanaian artiste was invited to perform with Nigeria artistes which includes Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Patoranking, Flavour, Phyno and Olamide all taking up the stage to entertain the gathering.
But according to the continental football governing body they will query the event organisers with their choice of artistes in order to make next year’s event more successful.
“Our sponsors AITEO deserve big commendation as their significant support ensured the fantastic display,” Caf president Ahmad Ahmad said in a statement.
“While praising their efforts we will be seeking an explanation from AITEO over the line-up of musicians for the event.
“We had agreed with them, in pursuit of continental spread of the performers, to ensure a regional balance and a strong local representation of at least two musicians from the host nation Ghana – Kidi and Shatta Wale.
“We take full responsibility for the absence of the Ghanaian musicians and apologise unreservedly for the mishap.
“There is also the need for an explanation from AITEO on why the host nation’s musicians could not perform as we seek to make next year’s event more successful.”
